Role Overview:
As an Operations Manager, you will provide effective leadership across a portfolio of residential and supported living services. You will support and develop location managers and Team Leaders to deliver high standards of care in line with regulatory requirements and organisational values. You will be responsible for ensuring services are safe, compliant, and person-centred, while driving a culture of continuous improvement and learning.
Key Responsibilities:
Service Quality and Compliance
- Ensure services consistently meet or exceed regulatory requirements and internal quality standards.
- Support services in preparation for CQC inspections and respond to any areas for improvement.
- Review service data, audits, and incident reports to identify trends and address concerns.
- Work with Property, HR, and IT teams to troubleshoot site level issues promptly, ensuring minimal disruption to operations and reducing escalation burden on senior leadership
- Undertake monthly audits for key services and monitor completion of action plans, relieving the Senior Area Manager from direct oversight.
People Leadership
- Line-manage and support Location Managers and Team Leaders to lead effective, motivated teams.
- Conduct regular supervision, appraisals, and development planning for management staff.
- Coordinate with HR on recruitment gaps, absence trends, and disciplinary matters, offering support with solutions.
- Promote a culture of accountability, empowerment, and reflective practice
Risk Management and Safeguarding
- Act as an escalation point for safeguarding concerns and serious incidents.
- Chair investigations and contribute to and implement robust risk management protocols.
- Ensure learning from incidents is embedded across services.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Maintain strong, collaborative relationships with families, social workers, advocates, and other key stakeholders.
- Promote the reputation of Venus Healthcare through transparent, respectful communication.
Service Development
- Lead the implementation of new systems, processes, and initiatives that enhance service quality.
- Support the mobilisation of new placements and services in line with PBS values and individualised support planning.
- Support pre-admission planning and integration for new service users, including environmental readiness and staff capability checks, to ensure smooth transitions and mitigate risk
- Work closely with internal clinical, PBS, and therapeutic teams to ensure joined-up care delivery.
Person Specification:
Essential:
- At least 5 years’ experience in an operational management role within adult social care.
- Demonstrable track record of leading regulated services to achieve at least ‘Good’ ratings from the CQC.
- Strong working knowledge of the Care Act 2014, Health and Social Care Act 2008, and CQC regulations.
- Experience applying Positive Behaviour Support principles in practice.
- Proven ability to manage and develop staff teams across multiple sites.
- Skilled in safeguarding, risk assessment, and quality assurance.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly.
- Right to work in the UK and willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check.
Desirable:
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Adult Care (or willingness to complete).
- Experience of supporting individuals with complex needs, including autism and forensic backgrounds.
- Familiarity with digital care planning and outcome measurement tools.
